The Nistru River – a bridge connecting the inhabitants on both banks

Today, the Republic of Moldova celebrates Nistru River Day – a day dedicated to solidarity, national identity, and civic responsibility. The Nistru River, one of the most important rivers in our country, is not only a vital source of water but also a living symbol of unity, shared historical heritage, and a common future for all Moldovans living on both banks of the river.
Along the Nistru River, the fertile lands of the Soroca, Florești, Șoldănești, Rezina, Orhei, Criuleni, Dubăsari, Anenii Noi, Căușeni, and Ștefan Vodă districts sustain local life, traditions, and culture. Its green banks, dense forests, and communities that carefully preserve ancient songs and customs have today become spaces for reconnection with nature and sources of peace for those seeking refuge from the daily hustle.
Nistru River Day calls on us to unite around the values that bring us together: respect for nature, a spirit of community, and responsibility for the legacy left by our ancestors.
The localities on the eastern side of the country, situated along the riverbanks, are an integral part of a living chain of human and cultural connections. By promoting dialogue, strengthening trust and opening up to cooperation, we can contribute to overcoming existing difficulties and building a peaceful, united and prosperous Moldova.
The Nistru River is not a line that divides, but a bridge that brings us closer.
