Obstruction of free movement on the bridge over the Nistru River at Gura Bâcului – Bâcioc, subject of discussion at the Joint Control Commission

The weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission took place on 28 November 2024 in the city of Bender.
The discussions were held on the report on the situation in the Security Zone over the previous 7 days. The signing of the report at the level of the Joint Military Command did not take place. The reason for not signing is the refusal of the representatives of the Transnistrian region, supported by the representatives of the Russian Federation, to include in the report information on the unilateral actions of the structures controlled by Tiraspol aimed at strengthening the infrastructure of the illegal checkpoint in the settlement of Bâcioc, in the immediate vicinity of the bridge over the Nistru River. In this way, Tiraspol intends to strengthen the presence of its force structures in the Security Zone and to increase the illegal control over vehicles and citizens crossing the bridge.
The delegation of the Republic of Moldova pointed out that such actions were initiated by the Transnistrian force structures since the reopening of this road after a costly rehabilitation carried out with the support of external partners.
As a result of Tiraspol ignoring the principles of the current peacekeeping mission, free movement on the bridge connecting Gura Bâcului and Bâcioc is seriously affected.
Delegations have not taken any consensual decision on the matter, discussions will continue.
