Over 341 thousand inhabitants from the Transnistrian region hold the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, over 316 thousand hold national biometric passports and almost 25 thousand obtained Moldovan driver licenses in the last five years

According to information extracted from the databases of the Public Services Agency, a number of 350.859 inhabitants living on the left bank of the Dniester and Bender municipality are listed in the State Register of population, of which 341.682 hold the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova, including 316.548 who hold national passports and 284.664 who hold identity cards.

At the same time, according to the data from the State Register of legal entities and individual entrepreneurs and in accordance with the provisions of Government Decision no. 815/2005, it is attested that 2268 economic agents from the Transnistrian region are registered in the Republic of Moldova.

Moreover, we note an upward trend in the application for national model driving licenses based on the exchange mechanism offered to persons domiciled in the Transnistrian region, holders of regional confirmatory documents and identity documents approved by Law no. 273/1994. For the period January 2017-March 2022, 24.977 permits issued by the competent authorities of the Republic of Moldova were obtained.

These trends show the increased interest of the inhabitants and companies from the Eastern districts of the country to own national model documents and to carry out entrepreneurial activity in accordance with the rigors of the regulatory framework in force of the Republic of Moldova.
