Participation of the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration in a seminar on strengthening the capacity of parliamentarians in the fight against disinformation and fake news

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian participated today in a seminar on strengthening the capacity of parliamentarians in the fight against disinformation and fake news. The event took place on the sidelines of the Conference of European Regional Presidents within the framework of the Parliamentary Assembly of Francophonie (PAF).

The discussions were attended by MPs from Francophone European countries, deputies and officials from the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. The discussions focused on the phenomenon of disinformation in the Francophone space, the case of the Republic of Moldova, as well as the effects of fake news on parliamentary activity.

In his speech Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian tackled the current situation in the Transnistrian region, recent actions of disinformation and the spread of panic in society, especially through social networks.

We remind that the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova has been an associate member of the Parliamentary Assembly of Francophonie since 1998. The PAF is composed of sections, representing 70 parliaments on the five continents.
