The problem of illegal posts and ensuring condition for carrying out the Census in the Security Area, addressed at the Joint Control Commission

The weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) was held in the city of Bender on March 14, 2024, and important topics regarding the situation in the Security Zone were discussed.
The continued disregard of the acts of the peacekeeping operation on the Nistru River by the security forces of Tiraspol, maintaining their illegal posts, was identified as one of the most problematic aspects. In this regard, discussions continued to make a decision on ensuring the withdrawal of illegal posts from the area of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Force.
The delegation of the Republic of Moldova notified the JCC on the upcoming population and housing census which will take place from April 8 to July 7, 2024. Representatives of Chișinău mentioned the need to ensure the free movement and safety of census operators, appealing to the Transnistrian structures to prevent provocative actions and obstacles to the proper conduct of the census in Corjova.
With reference to the increase in cases of organizing illegal migration through the central segment of the state border of the Republic of Moldova with Ukraine and the involvement of the exponents of the force structures of Tiraspol, considering the risks in relation to the stability of the situation in the Security Zone, the General Police Inspectorate informed the JCC that all criminal prosecution measures will be taken to investigate these illegal acts in accordance with national legislation.
