Regarding the delivery of natural gas to the transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova

In response to the energy and social crisis in the eastern districts of the country, triggered by Gazprom’s unilateral suspension of natural gas deliveries under its contract with Moldovagaz, Moldovan authorities have put forward a solution to ensure continued supply. The proposal involves Moldovagaz purchasing natural gas on the market from the Republic of Moldova and delivering it to the transnistrian region. This arrangement can be implemented immediately, provided that Tiraspoltransgaz agrees to cover the costs.
Tiraspol has expressed its readiness to accept gas deliveries managed by Moldovagaz to Tiraspoltransgaz, in line with the legal framework of the Republic of Moldova. However, it has proposed that payment for the natural gas, including its purchase and transportation to the Moldovan border, be handled by third-party companies. Under this proposal, Tiraspoltransgaz would only be responsible for paying Moldovagaz for transit through Moldovan territory.
The relevant authorities of the Republic of Moldova are currently reviewing Tiraspol’s request to ensure it complies with national and international legal standards.
The Bureau for Reintegration Policies will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as developments unfold.
