The representative of the Bureau for Reintegration Policies participated in the 10th meeting of the Association Committee Republic of Moldova – European Union in the Trade configuration
On October 6, 2023, the deputy head of the Bureau for Reintegration Policies, Eugen Cara, participated in the 10th meeting of the Association Committee Republic of Moldova - European Union (RM-EU) in the Trade configuration, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitization.
The discussions of the meeting focused on aspects of economic and sectoral cooperation, the achievements and difficulties in the implementation of the commitments deriving from the RM-EU Association Agreement on both banks of the Nistru River, the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, as well as the elimination of technical barriers for trade activities.
The representative of the Bureau informed about the September 19 restart of the activity on the platform of working groups for the economy after a break of about 2 years, with the participation of experts from both banks of the Nistru River, the key topics that appear on the work agenda, such as and the actions to be taken next.
At the same time, it was highlighted that the constant cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the EU, especially at the pre-accession stage, boosts the registration process of economic agents from the Transnistrian region in Chișinău, and about 67% of the total exports of goods from the left bank of the Nistru River and the municipality of Bender are headed to the EU member states.
The participants emphasized once again the importance of respecting the commitments made through the RM-EU partnership and the implementation of the Association Agenda throughout the entire territory of the country, including the Transnistrian region, which will significantly contribute to the development of trade and the application of EU standards on both banks of the Nistru River.
