The situation in the Security Zone, on the agenda of the Joint Control Commission

The issue of illegal posts in the Security Zone was at the center of the discussions held during the weekly meeting of the Unified Control Commission on March 30, 2023. The delegation of the Republic of Moldova reaffirmed its position regarding the need to eliminate any posts installed in the Security Zone without the consent of the Joint Control Commission.

As a reaction to the information about alleged terrorist acts spread by the exponents of Tiraspol, including through the media, the Chișinău delegation drew attention to some mechanisms of the peacekeeping operation, which were violated by the Transnistrian force structures.

Through a statement addressed to the Unified Control Commission, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova highlighted that not informing and not involving military observers and constitutional law enforcing institutions in the established manner casts doubt on the conclusions of the representatives of the Transnistrian region. However, the alleged facts, if they occurred, should have been reported at the time of their occurrence, in order to trigger the mechanisms of the peacemaking operation to prevent the destabilization of the situation in the Security Zone and to carry out an objective investigation.

The delegation of the Republic of Moldova disapproved of resorting to manipulative procedures, demanded the abandonment of provocative actions and compliance with the basic acts of the peacemaking operation on the Nistru River.
