The Joint Control Commission held its weekly meeting on 30 May 2024 in the city of Bender, where it heard the report of the Joint Military Command on the situation in the Security Zone for 22-28 May of the current year.
Discussions focused on actions initiated by the Russian Federation's component of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces (JPF), which is performing these days the operational efficiency of armored vehicles located at peacekeeping posts.
The Moldovan delegation issued a statement outlining its position, stressing the need to comply without deviation with the documents of the peacekeeping mission on the Nistru River. Extracts from these documents were presented, which prohibit the conduct of training or other maneuvers of military contingents without the approval of the Commission. It was stressed that the established rules apply equally to all components of the JPF and only such an approach can contribute to the peaceful settlement of the conflict.
Our delegation also reported to the Joint Control Commission the case from 25 May of the current year, when a group of so-called „militia” from Bender, on the outskirts of Fârlădeni, Căușeni district, forcibly stopped a vehicle with some inhabitants of this village under the control of the constitutional authorities and initiated actions to detain the driver of the vehicle, with the application of physical force and special means. The targeted citizens opposed the abusive actions of the representatives of the Transnistrian force structures and requested by phone the help of the police. The perpetrators immediately withdrew from the scene. The police started a criminal case, the persons involved are identified, in order to establish all the circumstances, the procedural measures provided by the legislation of the Republic of Moldova continue.
