Topics addressed at the Joint Control Commission
A new meeting of the Joint Control Commission took place in Bender on July 20.
The Joint Military Command presented the report on the situation in the Security Zone for the previous week.
The Commission confirmed into office two military observers from the Republic of Moldova.
Discussions aimed at taking a decision on the issue of illegal posts of the Transnistrian force structures and their removal from the Security Zone were continued.
Attention was brought to the case of the violent death of civic activist Oleg Horjan, which occurred in the village of Sucleia, located in the perimeter of the Security Zone. The delegation of the Republic of Moldova strongly condemned the criminal actions that took the life of a man.
Considering the Principles of cooperation between the OSCE Mission in Moldova and the Joint Control Commission in the Security Zone, signed on December 10, 2004, the delegation from Chisinau proposed the initiation of the investigation of the circumstances of the case under the auspices of the OSCE Mission.
Access to the place was also requested for law enforcement specialists to carry out prosecution actions in accordance with the law.
