The unconditional release of the journalist Viorica Tătaru was requested from the political representative of Tiraspol

In connection with the illegal detention of journalist Viorica Tătaru by the exponents of the so-called force structures in the Transnistrian region, an emergency notification was sent to the political representative in the negotiation process on the Transnistrian settlement from Tiraspol, requesting her immediate release and the possibility of a safe return to the right bank of the Nistru River.

A call was reiterated to ensure unhindered access to the region for journalists from the right bank of the Nistru River, under similar conditions as offered to those in the region, who can access and reflect the events taking place in the constitutionally controlled perimeter without obstacles and conditioning.

This egregious case was brought to the attention of the OSCE Mission to Moldova and the relevant external partners, with the request to take all possible measures to persuade Tiraspol to renounce abuses and provocations, equally respect the rights and freedoms of all media representatives, to contribute to the unconditional release of journalist V. Tătaru and her safe return to the right bank of the Nistru River.
