The unconditional release of Vadim Pogorleţchi and many other citizens of the Republic of Moldova is constantly being requested by Chișinău through all existing channels of dialogue

The Bureau for Reintegration Policies reminds that the case of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova, Vadim Pogorlețchi, who has been held in illegal detention for nearly three years in a detention facility in the city of Tiraspol, and continues to be held there, has been under the constant attention of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova throughout this entire period.

Numerous formal appeals have been sent to the political representative in the negotiation process for the Transnistrian settlement in Tiraspol, requesting the immediate and unconditional release of Vadim Pogorleţchi, the clarification of the circumstances underlying the abusive and illegal actions he was subjected to, the prevention of any inhuman or degrading treatment against him, as well as the provision of appropriate medical assistance.

Meanwhile, the mediators and international observers involved in the negotiation process on the Transnistrian issue, as well as the Republic of Moldova’s international partners, have been urged to undertake the necessary efforts to ensure the unconditional release and restoration of the violated rights of our citizen.

At Chișinău’s request, the OSCE is maintaining this case as a priority and is attempting to contribute to achieving a positive resolution.

Efforts in this case will be renewed with both Tiraspol and the relevant international partners.

The national law enforcement authorities have taken the necessary legal measures.

All available legal mechanisms and instruments will continue to be used in order to ensure the fulfillment of the state’s positive obligations regarding the protection and restoration of the fundamental rights of Vadim Pogorleţchi and to secure his release from unlawful detention.

Furthermore, Chișinău continues to expect positive results from Tiraspol in many other individual cases involving citizens of the Republic of Moldova who are being illegally deprived of their liberty in the region, and on whose behalf numerous urgent appeals have also been made.
