Government crisis cell: On 26 January consumption expected to be about 11% lower than previous day

26 January 2025, Chișinău - Electricity consumption for the right bank of the Dniester River is fully covered for January 26, without the need to activate emergency contracts, the government crisis cell announced.

Today, a decrease in consumption of approximately 11% is anticipated compared to the previous day, January 25. Energocom has reserved the necessary capacities at the border with Romania to supplement the internal demand with imported electricity.

On January 25, the total electricity consumption in the territory of the Republic of Moldova, located on the right bank of the Dniester River, recorded a decrease of about 4.7%, down to 14,333,000 kWh. The details of the energy sources used are as follows:

- Electricity import (RO) – 62.03%;

- Termoelectrica – 28.18%;

- Renewable energy – 4.87%;

- CET-Nord – 3.80%;

- NHE Costești– 1.12%.

The peak electricity consumption was recorded between 17:00 and 20:00, with a maximum of 937 MW, exceeding the forecast consumption by about 1.3%. Consumers are encouraged to save electricity, especially during peak hours 07:00-11:00 and 18:00-23:00, to avoid overloading high-voltage electrical networks and to reduce electricity bills.

In the thermal energy sector, on the right bank, all generation sources are operational and there are no risks. In the natural gas sector, the pressures in all segments of the transmission system managed by Vestmoldtransgaz are within functional parameters.

In the Transnistrian region, starting from January 10, 2025, there are scheduled interruptions lasting 5 hours, once a day. The electricity consumption in the region amounted to 4,422,000 kWh on January 25. The energy sources used on the left bank of the Dniester River are: MGRES/Cuciurgan Power Plant - about 90% of the produced electricity volume, the remaining electricity coming from Dubasari Hydroelectric Power Plant and the technological flow.
