Government crisis cell: Electricity needs covered for 16 January
16 January 2025, Chișinău - For 16 January, the electricity consumption on the right bank of the Dniester River is fully covered, the government crisis cell reports. Energocom has fully reserved the commercial capacity at the border with Romania to supplement domestic production with imports.
On 15 January, the energy sources used for the right bank were as follows:

The highest consumption was recorded between 17:00 and 20:00, reaching a peak of 1,012 MW, approximately 20 MW above the forecasted plan. At 18:30, consumption exceeded the plan by 2%, and by 20:30, the exceedance was 3.3% more than forecast.
Consumers are encouraged to save electricity during peak hours 07:00-11:00 and 18:00-23:00, both to enjoy lower bills and to ensure the stability of the energy system.
In the Transnistrian region, scheduled power cuts of 5 hours once a day continue. Over 80% of the electricity for the left bank is produced by MGRES/Cuciurgan power plant, while the rest provided by Dubăsari hydropower plant and technological flow.
In the thermal energy sector on the right bank all generation sources are operational with no risks. In the natural gas sector, pressures in all segments of the transport system managed by Vestmoldtransgaz are within functional parameters.
