29 January 2025, Chișinău – Medical staff wages paid from the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund (FAOAM) will be increased by 15% as of 1 January. To ensure a competitive salary level, the Cabinet of Ministers today amended the Regulation on salaries of employees in public healthcare institutions covered by the compulsory health care insurance system.

The increases range from 700 to 3,000 lei, depending on specialty, seniority and education level. For instance, a family doctor with work experience between 10 to 20 years will receive 2,370 lei more, reaching a monthly salary of 18,170 lei. Ambulance doctors with over 10 years of experience will get 1,930 lei more monthly than before, and those with over 20 years of specialization in areas such as: surgery, anesthesia or intensive care will receive 2,520 lei more, reaching a salary of 19,300 lei.

The salary increases also target auxiliary hospital staff. Nurses with over 10 years of experience will get 10,750 lei per month, by a 1,400 lei increase compared to the previous year.

The ambulance doctors will receive an additional 140 lei for each night shift worked, reaching a bonus of 1,060 lei per shift. Anesthesiologists and reanimatologists in hospitals will receive 1,320 lei for night duty, up by 170 lei compared to last year.

The project provides for the equalization of salaries for surgeons, endoscopists, anesthesiologists and intensive care specialists working in district-level institutions with those in republican and municipal level institutions.

About 44,600 employees in the medical system will benefit from the salary increase.
