13 February 2025, Chișinău - The Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund will be increased by 1.2 billion lei, in order to cover the increase in the tariffs for heating invoices. The money will be allocated from grants provided by foreign partners. A decision to this effect was approved by the Commission for Exceptional Situations (CSE), chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

Thus, citizens registered in the compensation program will receive monthly monetary aid for the heating season, including March, ranging from 500 to 1,400 lei.

Another CSE decision concerns the emergency humanitarian aid, valued at 30 million euros, provided by the European Union. The concerned sum will be reimbursed to Energocom, which purchased gas worth 20 million euros for the left bank of Dniester and electricity worth 10 million euros for the right bank from its own funds.

"We took these decisions today through CSE, so that citizens can immediately benefit from the European Union’s aid, which was specifically provided to prevent an security and humanitarian crisis deliberately triggered by the Russian Federation," said the prime minister.

The CSE directive also provides for the allocation of about 26 million lei from the government's intervention fund, in order to address the consequences of landslides in the Balti municipality and the torrential rains which caused road damage in 7 villages in the southern Cantemir district.
