Moldovan government approved electricity compensation, included directly in bills, starting from February 2025

26 February 2025, Chișinău - Government with the EU support is providing financial assistance to households across the country to mitigate the impact of rising electricity tariffs. As of February 2025, all domestic consumers will receive electricity compensation, included directly in bills, to be received as of March for February consumption. Today, the cabinet approved a decision to implement this measure.
The compensation will cover the difference between the regulated price and reference price, up to a maximum ceiling of 1.84 MDL/kWh, applicable to the amount of energy consumed monthly, not exceeding the limit of 110 kWh per consumption point. This measure will ensure a fair distribution of assistance, with a significant impact on low-income households.
Energy providers will perform the monthly calculation of the amount compensated from the Energy Vulnerability Reduction Fund for each domestic consumer in the issued bills, they will mention the total cost of the supplied electricity, the amount of the compensation and the final amount the consumer has to pay after applying this compensation.
The government continues to support the population in the face of the energy crisis and to ensure citizens' access to essential services. It should be noted that the electricity compensation for all households in the Republic of Moldova is carried out within the financial support package announced by the European Union for 2025.
