Moldovan government facilitates work of small producers from food sector, agro-tourist boarding houses

15 January 2025, Chișinău - The government today approved simplified requirements of work for the small producers from the food sector and agro-tourist boarding houses. The amendments will reduce the financial and administrative burden, thus stimulating the native products and the development of the rural tourism.    

The new regulations regard the simplification of the requirements for the construction, endowment and maintenance of the production units. Also, the regulations establish easier conditions of compliance with the requirements of hygiene for the small producers and the process of official authorization is facilitated. They also establish adapted conditions for the small-capacity slaughter-houses and units of processing and sale of raw milk, self-acting apparatus.       

Besides, the tourist boarding houses will be able to cook and serve culinary products and wine from their own raw material or purchased from households.  

At the same time, this initiative will give small producers flexibility in choosing the legal form of organization, such as the private enterprise or peasant farm.    

„This is an important project for small producers and household producers, so that we have simplified and de-bureaucratized procedures and at the same time, the food safety should be observed,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said. The PM asked the institutions in charge to efficiently communicate with the concerned entrepreneurs on the new opportunities.     

The provisions are meant to support both the tendency of increasing of the interest of the small enterprises of producing food products in limited quantities (confectioner’s products, bread products, tinned products of different types) and the enhanced interest of the consumers to purchase them.    

As for the giving of the status of small producer, criteria and quantities of products are established for each field, according to which the producer will be regarded as small and respectively, simplified requirements of work will be applied to it.
