Moldovan PM has discussions with representatives of local public authorities from Criuleni district

27 March 2025, Criuleni - Opportunities for local development according to the European model, the speeding up the process of projects’ implementation and the current challenges faced by citizens in the region were discussed at a meeting of Prime Minister Dorin Recean with representatives of local public authorities (APL) and decentralized services from central Criuleni district.
The PM emphasized that the authorities would continue to prioritize initiatives that bring direct benefits to the people, noting that 1.9 billion euros, recently provided by the European Union, would fund the implementation of key reforms, as well as infrastructure projects. At the same time, a supplementary call for projects will be soon launched within the European Village programme. Those who failed to secure funding in previous calls, due to budget deficits, will now have this opportunity.
"We are responsible for explaining what living in a European state means, what peace, stability and opportunities entail. The European Union provides us with support, including financial support, and we must work to capitalize on this aid. We will continue to invest in important projects and modernize the entire country," said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
According to the PM, the government will support local authorities by creating a fund for financing their own contributions. This fund will temporarily cover the co-financing portion that local authorities must provide. Thus, the implementation of projects will be accelerated and settlements will be able to start work without waiting to collect the necessary amount.
Another topic discussed with APL representatives concerns the situation created by outbreaks of African swine fever in the Criuleni and Anenii Noi regions. The prime minister emphasized that authorities stayed fully engaged in stopping and eradicating the outbreaks and the National Food Safety Agency had employed veterinarians who will operate throughout the country.
"My call to the farmers in the villages, to the local public administration and to society in general is to take the situation seriously and collaborate to prevent an economic disaster. I want to urge you to also pay attention to the agri-food markets of the district. If you have information about illegal activities or economic agents selling infected or suspect meat, it is essential to react quickly. We must not allow these products to enter the legal trade and endanger public health," said the prime minister.
Other topics discussed at the meeting focused on the supply of water and sewage systems, massive delimitation of lands in the district and the development of street lighting infrastructure.
