4 February 2025, Chișinău - The progress made by Moldova on the European integration way, the present situation in the energy sector, as well as the ways through which the European Union continues to back the development of Moldova have been discussed at a meeting of Prime Minister Dorin Recean and European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.

The PM thanked the European partners for mobilization and the providing of emergency support for enhancing the energy resilience and independence of Moldova. Also, the prime minister said that the Moldovan authorities would continue achieving the goals set for the country’s development, with the European Union’s support. Among the basic priorities, there is the ensuring of peace and security, reformation of justice, economic growth and attraction of foreign investors, as well as the carrying out of the agenda of integration into EU.

„We will build a prosperous country, with numerous opportunities for the citizens and business environment and we will prove that Moldova is able. The European Union stays the principal partner which helps our people and provides us with the instruments needed for development,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.

In the next weeks, the European institutions are to approve the Growth Plan for Moldova – a plan of investments worth 1.8 billion euros, meant to ensure the country’s economic growth. For its part, Moldova gives final touches to the Agenda of Reforms, as well as the list of priority sectors for investments, so that the first installments are disbursed till the next summer. Also, Moldova prepares to become, in the next months, part of the European Single Payments Area (SEPA), which will make the bank transfers more accessible, quicker and safer for the Moldovans who work or have businesses in Europe.

At the same time, another objective agreed upon is the full removing of the roaming taxes between Moldova and the EU member countries, which will facilitate the travels and the communication without additional costs.

As for the accession dimension, the common goal is the opening of the negotiations on the first cluster, which deals with the fundamental values in the next spring, as well as the finishing of the negotiations on accession in the mandate of the current European Commission.

„We will support the ambitious programme which the Moldovan authorities carry out on the European integration way. Your country is an example and the effort you make to get the capacity of member is impressive. We will stay with you and Moldova will never be alone on this way to EU,’’ Marta Kos said.
