Moldovan PM has meetings with European leaders in Davos

23 January 2025, Davos - The progress made by Moldova on its path to European integration, the current regional situation, and ways in which the European Union can offer support to overcome challenges in the energy sector were discussed by Prime Minister Dorin Recean and European leaders in Davos.
The need to strengthen efforts to overcome the humanitarian crisis created in the Transnistrian region, following Gazprom's halt in natural gas deliveries, was emphasized during Prime Minister Dorin Recean's meeting with Marta Kos, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, Poland's Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski, France's head of diplomacy Jean-Noel Barrot, and Romania's Minister of Foreign Affairs Emil Hurezeanu.
“Against the backdrop of hybrid threats and foreign interferences, the Republic of Moldova is firmly pursuing the goal of modernizing in the European model. We face multiple challenges, but we continue to act to support our citizens. Together with the EU and its member states, we are building a stronger Moldova - a European country where people live in peace and prosperity,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
In Davos, the Moldovan PM met his counterpart Daniel Risch, the Prime Minister of the Principality of Liechtenstein. The prime ministers advocated for energizing the bilateral agenda for the benefit of both states, with a focus on joint programs implemented in education and social assistance.
Opportunities to deepen economic cooperation between Serbia and the Republic of Moldova were analyzed in a dialogue between Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić. Additionally, the common European perspective and advancement of bilateral relations were addressed by Prime Minister Dorin Recean in discussions with Borjana Krišto, Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
At the meeting with Valdis Dombrovskis, European Commissioner for Trade, Prime Minister Dorin Recean spoke about the investment advantages of our country and mentioned that stability and peace in the region are essential conditions for the economic progress of the Republic of Moldova. The economic situation was also addressed in the meeting with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso. The parties exchanged views on ongoing EBRD projects in our country and the impact of external assistance in ensuring stability and sustainable development of the Republic of Moldova.
