Moldovan PM visits irrigation station in Dubasarii Vechi

27 March 2025, Dubăsarii Vechi - Prime Minister Dorin Recean today visited the irrigation station in Dubasarii Vechi, central Criuleni district, where he discussed with members of the Association of  Water Users for Irrigation Dubasarii Vechi the station's activities and the projects from which they had recently they benefited.

Members of the association reported that, in 2024, almost 2,000 hectares had been  irrigated in the Dubasarii Vechi region alone. Thus, farmers on this plateau get harvests of wheat, corn, pea, or potato up to four times higher than in other regions.

In discussion with farmers, the PM said that the government is providing producer groups with 500 million lei in grants for the rehabilitation of irrigation systems. Funding for the development of water distribution infrastructure, up to 500,000 dollars, can be accessed through the IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development) programme.

The farmers from Dubasarii Vechi, who united in an association, have benefited from government subsidies for business development, as well as compensation for electricity. To reduce energy costs, they set photovoltaic panels, and presently, three wind turbines are also installed at the irrigation complex.
