The implementation of projects on settlements’ modernization, the benefits of the European Village Programme and the European Union’s support for the development of the country’s southern region have been among the subjects discussed at a meeting of Prime Minister Dorin Recean with representatives of the local public authorities and deconcentrated services from the Vulcanesti district.

The PM urged the mayors to more actively get involved in the development of the communities and to build solid partnerships with the central public authorities, in order to achieve the results expected by the citizens.

„Moldova can become a developed and prosperous country, in which each resident should enjoy good conditions for living: quality education, decent salaries and pensions, good roads, access to drinking water. We must work to build Europe at home.’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.

At the same time, the PM emphasized the importance of preserving the values, culture and traditions specific for the southern region. ‘’The European Union respects and celebrates the cultural diversity. We should be proud of our roots and make efforts, in order to as quickly as possibly integrate into the great European family – where there is peace, stability and all people are respected,’’ PM Dorin Recean stressed.

For their part, the local authorities asked for the support of the central authorities, in order to solve the problems regarding roads’ repair, extension and modernization of water and sewerage supply systems, arrangement of sports fields.

In the last two years, with the government’s support, the mayoralties and local communities from Vulcanesti have implemented more projects, among which: repair and endowment of culture and education institutions, supply with water and sanitation, arrangement of playgrounds and sports grounds, roads’ rehabilitation, etc.
