PM Dorin Recean visits Vulcanesti Power Station

Prime Minister Dorin Recean, during a visit to southern Moldova, has gone to the Vulcanesti Power Station, where a project on extension is implemented – construction of an additional cell of 400 kV.
During a discussion with the Moldelectrica state enterprise, which managed the Vulcanesti Power Station of 400 kV, PM Dorin Recean stressed the need to accelerate the pace of carrying out of the works by the contractor. ‘’It is necessary to adjust the working schedule and adapt to the emergency conditions, for the carrying out of the activities as quickly as possible,’’ the prime minister stressed.
The contract for the carrying out of the works was signed in late last January and has a value of about 3.8 million euros.
The extension of the 400 kV Vulcanesti Power Station is a component part of the Project on Development of the Electric Energy System (PDSE), along with the construction of the 400 kV Vulcanesti-Chisinau power line and the modernization of the 330 kV Chisinau Station. The overall budget of this big energy infrastructure project is of 61 million euros.
The works are aimed at ensuring the country’s energy security, through Moldova’s interconnection with the European Union’s internal energy market through power lines, as well as at strengthening the internal power transportation networks.
