Prime Minister attended commemoration events of heroes of Dniester war

2 March 2025, Chisinau - The heroes who defended the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova during the 1992 war were commemorated today during the events organized on the Remembrance and Gratitude Day.
The program started with laying flowers at the monument of Stefan cel Mare, after which President Maia Sandu, Speaker Igor Grosu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean, along with veterans and their family members, MPs, ministers, dignitaries and employees of law enforcement bodies participated in the Remembrance March and solemn rally at Grieving Mother monument.
'We did not covet foreign territories and did not want a war, but 33 years ago, we had to defend ourselves against the aggressor. Just like then, today, there are attempts to divide us, but we, Moldovans, have nothing to divide. Whether we live in Chișinău, Tiraspol, Cahul, Tighina, Soroca, or Râbnița, we all want a natural thing: a secure future for our children, a dignified, free life without fear and deprivation,' said President Maia Sandu in her speech.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean remarked that it is everyone's duty to keep the memory of the 1992 events alive and pass on the lesson of sacrifice and courage offered by our people to future generations: 'Peace unites us. Our choice is clear – a future of freedom, democracy, and respect for national sovereignty. Moldova is a sovereign state, and Russian troops must leave our territory.
