Government supports youth centers in country by approving development program

29 January 2025, Chișinău – Youth centers across the country will benefit from financial and methodological support through a new governmental program approved at today's cabinet meeting.
The program includes four main components, created in accordance with the needs identified by the Ministry of Education and Research. Specifically, resources will be allocated for staff development, infrastructure modernization and enhancement of activity conditions, diversification of programs and activities, as well as the creation of new centers to meet youth needs.
Government aims to boost creation, development and strengthening of youth centers, focusing on communities where there is a lack of opportunities for young people. “It is a significant support package for youth and one of the Government’s priorities to support them and provide them with the best development conditions possible,” Prime Minister Dorin Recean said.
The 67 youth centers in the country will be able to access financial resources to develop and implement new services such as media literacy and financial education programs.
The annual budget provided for the program is 4.5 million lei. Its implementation will be coordinated by the National Agency for Youth.
Today the government approved the Framework Methodology for Financing Youth Centers with Public Authority Status. The document will allow local authorities to carry out a comprehensive evaluation of the centers' activities, which will directly impact staff remuneration and make positions within youth institutions more attractive.
