Tiraspol has repeatedly refused to participate in the Healthcare Working Group

The Transnistrian side again refused to attend the meeting of the Healthcare Working Group, that had to take place today in the format of a video-conference at the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova.

The Working Group was due to meet today at 11 a.m., to discuss the management of the epidemiological situation in the Republic of Moldova, including in the Transnistrian region, access to medical services, right to health and other relevant issues. However, on Monday evening, Tiraspol announced that they will not attend the meeting, claiming new speculative reasons.

In this context, the political representative of the Republic of Moldova in the Transnistrian settlement process, Cristina Lesnic, expresses her regret on this flawed decision, which does not allow ensuring cooperation of medical experts on the health domain and provision of quality medical services to citizens.

We would like to remind that creation of the communication platform for experts belongs to the political representatives in the negotiation process, in accordance with the Working Groups Regulation of 2011.

Previously, Tiraspol also refused to participate in Healthcare Working Group, and on 10 April, the Deputy Prime Minister, Cristina Lesnic, requested the convening of the 5+2 meeting to discuss the measures applied by the Transnistrian side on limiting the COVID-19 pandemic.
