Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration had a dialogue with institutions responsible for implementing the Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security
The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Cristina Lesnic, convened a meeting today with the institutions responsible for implementing the 2018-2021 National Program on UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and the Sectoral Action Plan. The meeting was co-chaired by the a.i. UN Women Representative in the Republic of Moldova, Peterson Magoola, and was held in video-conference format.
The purpose of the meeting was to analyze the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on activities planned for the Program implementation, coordination of the planned actions, as well as problems encountered in objectives implementation at the institutional level.
The parties exchanged views on the current state of the Resolution application, while UN Women and NATO Information and Documentation Center (NATO IDC) provided their expectations on the process. Representatives of the institutions referred to the pandemic challenges and lessons learned, and pointed out that there could be insignificant delays in implementation, caused by the epidemiological situation.
The legislation on sexual harassment, training of women in peacekeeping missions and other vital issues were also discussed. NATO IDC addressed the issue of security culture, inclusion, access to health services and made proposals for their improvement.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Cristina Lesnic, reiterated her full openness to support the process of implementing the Resolution 1325, stressing the need to plan activities on protecting the rights of women at risk.
The a.i. UN Women Representative in the Republic of Moldova, Peterson Magoola, mentioned that they will continue to support our country in implementing the Resolution 1325.
