Moldovan government's Crisis Cell: renewable energy stations, parks expected to produce twice as much quantity of energy for 17 January

17 January 2025, Chișinău - The necessary volume of electric energy for the right bank of Dniester is provided at the needed level for 17 January, according to information by the government’s Crisis Cell. To supply the necessary quantity of domestic consumption, the Energocom stock company reserved the commercial capacity at the border with Romania for imports both based on bilateral contracts and from exchange.   

The renewable energy stations and parks are expected to produce a twice larger quantity of energy on 17 January against the day before. At the same time, consumption by 3 per cent lower is estimated against 16 January.   

The consumers are urged to save, in continuation, the electricity during the peak ours, 07:00-11:00 and 18:00-23:00, in order to have lower invoices and ensure the stability of the electric energy system.    

The situation as regards the consumption of electric energy in Moldova on 16 January shows that the volume necessary was fully covered based on commercial contracts, without the activation of emergency contracts. A half of the consumption was provided from imports:  

- Import of electric energy from Romania – 60.82 per cent

- Termoelectrica stock company – 27.76 per cent

- Renewable energy – 6.54 per cent

- CET-Nord stock company – 4.27 per cent

- Costesti hydro-electric power station state enterprise – 0.61 per cent

The peak of the consumption of electric energy was recorded between 17:00 and 20:00, reaching a maximal level of 964 MW. 

As for the left bank of Dniester, over 80 per cent of the electricity is produced by the Kuchurgan power station and the rest is produced by MGRES/Kuchurgan station and from the technological flow. The scheduled disconnections from power supply continue, with five-hours-long disconnections planned for 17 January, once per day.
