The delegation of the Republic of Moldova requests Tiraspol to stop blocking the activity of military observers in the Security Zone

At the November 9, 2023 meeting of the Joint Control Commission held in Bender, the weekly report of the Joint Military Command regarding the situation in the Security Zone was heard.

The weekly report mentioned that on November 7, a resident of the village of Coșnița, during some work in the garden of his household, detected an explosive object and immediately notified the local police. Later, the engineers of the National Army examined the object, which turned out to be a bomb of about 500 kg from the Second World War, and transported it in safe conditions to the Bulboaca training ground to be disposed of according to regulations.

It was also found that once more the information from the report of the Joint Military Command is incomplete, as the exponents of Tiraspol maintained their destructive practice of preventing the movement of military observers to document the infrastructure consolidation actions at the checkpoints of the Transnistrian structures.

The delegation of the Republic of Moldova drew the attention of the JCC participants to the continuation of the blockade regarding the proper functioning of the peacekeeping mechanism on the Nistru River and demanded an end to these abuses.

The OSCE mission sent a note to the JCC delegations confirming that on October 26, 2023, between the villages of Gâsca and Fârlădeni, two so-called Transnistrian "border guards" were "patrolling" the sector with a private vehicle.

The issue of illegal posts remains current on the agenda of the delegation of the Republic of Moldova in the Joint Control Commission.
