Deputy Head of the Bureau for Reintegration Policies participated in the 7th meeting of the Republic of Moldova-EU Association Committee

On November 16, 2023, the deputy head of the Reintegration Policy Bureau, Eugen Cara, participated in the 7th meeting of the Republic of Moldova - European Union Association (RM-EU), held in Chisinau, under the auspices of the Ministry Foreign Affairs and European Integration.

During the work of the Association Committee, a broad exchange of opinions was carried out regarding economic and sectoral cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the EU, the achievements and difficulties in the implementation of the commitments deriving from the Association Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the EU and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area on both banks of the Nistru River, as well as respect for human rights throughout the country.

The representative of the Bureau informed about the current situation in the process of negotiations for the Transnistrian settlement, especially in the context of regional challenges, and presented the priorities in this regard.

At the same time, it was highlighted that the constant cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the EU, especially at the pre-accession stage, boosts the registration process of economic agents from the Transnistrian region in Chisinau, and almost 2/3 of the total exports of goods from the left bank of the Nistru River and the municipality of Bender are intended for EU member states.

The participants emphasized once again the importance of respecting the commitments made through the RM-EU partnership and the implementation of the Association Agenda throughout the country, including the Transnistrian region, which will significantly contribute to the development of trade and the application of EU standards in our country.
