Great Britain is interested in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process
The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Cristina Lesnic, met with the British Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, H.E. Steven Fisher, accompanied by the Embassy's Program Coordinator. This was the first meeting of the two officials and they had a wide views exchange on the current situation in Transnistria, prospects of the Berlin Plus Package, respect for human rights in the region, and the situation on the security dimension.
The Deputy Prime Minister mentioned the latest developments in the Covid-19 pandemic context, access to health care for Moldovan citizens in the Transnistrian region, set-up of over 20 illegal posts in the Security Zone by Tiraspol's unilateral actions, defying free movement and human rights. Therewith, Cristina Lesnic emphasized that she is communicating with the 5+2 actors, as well as partners interested in advancing human rights, and that she remains open to dialogue.
The parties discussed future steps in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, including the perspective of eventual bilateral assistance programs offered by the British Government to the Republic of Moldova.
In turn, His Excellency Ambassador Steven Fisher reiterated UK's interest in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process and the security dimension.
