Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Cristina LESNIC, had a working meeting with the Head of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova, Claus Neukirch

The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Cristina Lesnic, had a working meeting today with the Head of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova, Claus Neukirch.

During the discussion, Cristina Lesnic mentioned the availability for a 1+1 meeting of the political representatives, in order to address the Berlin Plus Package. Other current topics on the negotiation process agenda of Chisinau and Tiraspol, in particular events following the epidemiological situation management, would also be addressed.

Cristina Lesnic underlined that Chisinau sent a letter to Tiraspol proposing a 1+1 meeting of the political representatives on the Transnistrian file on 30 July, 2020. 

Officials discussed the outcomes of the Working Group on Telecommunications and Postal Services, that took place on 22 July, 2020.

The interlocutors exchanged views on activities to support and promote trust between the population on both banks, the issue of free movement, preparation of the educational process for schools teaching in Romanian, and admission of graduates from the left bank of Nistru to country’s universities.

The Deputy Prime Minister mentioned that Chisinau has demonstrated a constructive and pragmatic approach on honoring the positive obligations towards citizens living in the Transnistrian region, including measures taken to transfer seriously ill patients from the left bank to quality medical centers located on the right bank.

At the same time, Cristina Lesnic highlighted the situation regarding the process of issuing birth and death certificates to the population from the Transnistrian region, which has decreased considerably since March 2020 and compared to previous years. This is due to restrictions imposed by the Transnistrian side under the pandemic pretext. 

Other topics addressed during the discussion focused on the situation in the Security Zone, citizens' complaints and the need for an immediate solution.
