Deputy Prime Minister, Cristina Lesnic, met with EUBAM Head of Mission, Slawomir Pichor

Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Cristina Lesnic, had an official meeting with the Head of the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM), Slawomir Pichor.

 

The main topics of discussion were related to the current situation after reopening the Pervomaisc-Cuciurgan crossing point, the expiration of several normative acts in the near future, the flow of passengers and goods, challenges and difficulties in the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol during the Covid-19 pandemic, and unilateral restrictions imposed by the Transnistrian side.

 

The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration stated that the Moldovan side is open to ensure further cooperation with EUBAM, in order to align the sectoral regulations in the Transnistrian region to the legal field, thus creating premises for single economic spaces. 

 

Therewith, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed concerns about the continued self-isolation of the Transnistrian region, which revealed new realities to be taken into account within the negotiation process. 

 

Another discussed topic was the functionality of the car registration mechanism, given that the Vehicle Registration Point from Tiraspol reopened on 3 June, and the one from Rybnita - as of today, 23 June.

 

The officials also addressed issues related to the integrated border management, the role and assistance provided by the EUBAM Mission in this regard.
