27,840 Citizens of the Republic of Moldova Residing in the Transnistrian Region Are Medically Insured on the Right Bank of the Nistru River

According to data provided by the National Health Insurance Company (CNAM), at the end of the first half of 2025, 27,840 citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing in the Transnistrian region were registered as insured persons in the automated information system “Mandatory Health Insurance.” Of these, 25,476 individuals are insured by the Government, while 2,364 private individuals have paid the health insurance premium themselves.
The individuals insured by the Government fall into the following categories:
Children under the age of 18 – 4,554 persons;
Pupils and full-time students – 975 persons;
Pensioners – 19,436 persons;
Persons with disabilities – 118 persons;
Pregnant women, women in labor, and postpartum women – 107 persons;
War veterans – 169 persons.
Additionally, 39,238 citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing in the Transnistrian region are registered with family doctors at public medical institutions. Of these, 20,171 are insured, while 19,067 are uninsured.
In the first half of 2025, 4,880 individuals from the eastern districts benefited from compensated medicines and medical devices, with a total of 7.94 million lei paid from the mandatory health insurance funds.
These figures reflect the ongoing efforts of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova to ensure equal access to essential medical services for all citizens, regardless of the region in which they live, including those residing in localities on the left bank of the Nistru River and in the municipality of Bender, while also promoting social cohesion and the respect of fundamental rights.
