Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration in dialogue with the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process
On Wednesday, April 19, 2023, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian had a meeting with the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process, Mr. Thomas Mayr-Harting, accompanied by the Head of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova, Mrs. Kelly Keiderling.
During the discussions, the willingness of Chisinau to continue the constructive dialogue in the "1+1" format and of the sectoral working groups in order to identify technical and sustainable solutions to the current problems (free movement, permanent access to agricultural land in the Dubăsari district, the repair of the bridges across the Nistru river, the rational use of water resources, etc.) was reconfirmed, and the necessity for Tiraspol to abstaine the tactics of excessive politicization and attempting to impose unacceptable conditions was emphasized.
It was recalled that all the meetings of the working groups recently initiated by Chisinau (on environmental protection, social issues and humanitarian aid) under various pretexts were postponed by Tiraspol, which also acts passively in initiating a new working meeting at the level of political representatives.
The importance of the OSCE in the negotiation process and the need to preserve the plenary mandate in this regard was emphasized, as well as the idea of increasing the role of the European Union (EU) in the negotiations regarding the Transnistrian settlement from the perspective of the completion of the EU pre-accession process of the Republic of Moldova.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed concern about the incidents that continue to be fixed in the Security Zone, generated by the peacekeepers of the Russian Federation and the force structures of Tiraspol, with the unauthorized stopping of means of transport, including diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in the Republic Moldova, thorough control of documents and inquiries.
