The Head of the Reintegration Policies Bureau Alin Gvidiani and the Security Policy Directors of the European Union discussed aspects of the Transnistrian settlement process

On Tuesday, April 25, 2023, the Head of the Reintegration Policies Bureau, Alin Gvidiani, had a working meeting with a delegation composed of Security Policy Directors from the member states of the European Union (EU), who made a documentation visit to the Republic of Moldova.

 

The EU officials were informed about the activity in the dialogue formats regarding the Transnistrian settlement, the current regional situation, the priority actions of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova to boost the comprehensive reintegration of the two banks of the Nistru River, as well as the efforts undertaken to ensure the respect of fundamental human rights in the eastern districts of the country.

 

It was noted that from the perspective of the pre-accession process of the Republic of Moldova, the considerable assistance offered by Brussels, including through the programs to strengthen confidence building measures, the attractiveness of the European Community area for the population and economic agents from the entire territory of the country, the commitments assumed in common, the role of the EU in the Transnistrian regulation process must be increased to the appropriate level.

 

It was highlighted that the Republic of Moldova is fully aware of the assumed responsibilities, will take all possible measures to achieve the set objectives, will maintain an atmosphere of predictability, security, competitiveness and prosperity, and the progress made in the European integration process will also definitely influence the positive dynamics of restoring single national spaces.
