Nearly 32 thousand people in the Transnistrian region are medically insured on the right bank of the Nistru river, including nearly 22 thousand by the Government of the Republic of Moldova

According to the National Medical Insurance Company, at the end of the first semester of 2024, 195 822 citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing in the Transnistrian region were registered in the information system as uninsured persons and 31 725 persons from the same territorial area were listed as insured in the same register.

It should be noted that on December 31, 2023, 23 075 persons from the eastern districts of the country and the Bender municipality, citizens of the Republic of Moldova, were registered at general practitioners from medical institutions providing primary healthcare under the mandatory health insurance.

Thus, the number of people in the region getting medical insurance on the right bank increased by almost 27% in a period of 6 months, which shows their high degree of confidence of the inhabitants of the region in the medical system on the right bank of the Nistru river and their need to secure quality medical services.

Of the total number of insured persons, 21 889 persons are insured by the Government, 7 888 are employed in entities registered in the State Register of the Republic of Moldova and 1 948 persons are individually insured in a fixed amount.

With regard to the number of beneficiaries of compensated medicinal products and medical devices, according to data extracted from the information systems „Compensated Medicines” and „eRecipe for compensated medicinal products and medical devices” during the period 1 January – 30 June 2024, 3 560 people from the eastern districts and Bender municipality benefited from compensated medicinal products and medical devices, for which the amount of 5.55 million lei was paid from the funds of the mandatory health insurance.
