Working visit of the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian to Bucharest

On 28-29 February 2024, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian made a working visit to Bucharest, where he met with the President of the Romanian Senate Nicolae Ciucă, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania Luminița Odobescu, the Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee of the Romanian Legislature, Senator Titus Corlățean, the Chairman of the Commission on Defence, Public Order and National Security of the Romanian Parliament, Senator Nicoleta Pauliuc, the Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Romania, Gabriel Bologan, the Secretary of State, Head of the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova Adrian Dupu and with the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in the Republic of Moldova from residences in Bucharest.
Discussions with Bucharest officials focused on bilateral cooperation relations and current topics on the agenda of Moldovan-Romanian cooperation, efforts made in appropriately managing the processes of the gradual reintegration of the Transnistrian region, the current dynamics of interaction between Chișinău and Tiraspol, the situation in schools teaching in Romanian language in the eastern regions of the country and municipality of Bender, as well as the most current topics concerning the interests of citizens on both banks of the Nistru River. The sustained efforts of the Republic of Moldova to resolve the conflict exclusively through peaceful means, as well as other aspects of common interest, were emphasized.
Romania’s strong and active support for achieving the European integration objectives of the Republic of Moldova was highlighted, as well as its principled position on supporting a comprehensive, peaceful and sustainable settlement, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders.
At the Diplomatic Institute of Romania, Deputy Prime Minister Oleg Serebrian made a presentation to the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in the Republic of Moldova with residence in Bucharest on the current situation in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, touching upon key elements of the Transnistrian issue and prospects for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in the short, medium and long term.
Following the results of the working visit, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration held a briefing for representatives of the Romanian media.
