Government Crisis Cell: Electricity consumption fully covered for 22 January

22 January 2025, Chișinău – Electricity consumption for the right bank of the Dniester River will be fully covered today according to information of the Government Crisis Cell. A consumption decrease of about 1.5% is anticipated compared to January 21.

 

Energocom has fully reserved the commercial capacity at the border with Romania to enable electricity imports and thus cover the internal consumption demand for January 22. Activation of emergency contracts and/or unintended flows is not necessary.

 

On January 21, the electricity consumption on the right bank of the Dniester River recorded an increase of approximately 14.7% compared to the previous day, reaching 15,905,000 kWh. The energy sources used were as follows:

- Electricity import (RO) – 62.67%

- Termoelectrica – 25.21%

- Renewable energy – 7.54%

- CET-Nord – 3.58%

- NHE Costești – 1%

 

The peak electricity consumption was recorded between 17:00 and 20:00, reaching a maximum of 908 MW. Consumers are urged to save electricity during peak hours 07:00-11:00 and 18:00-23:00 to lower bills and ensure the stability of the electrical system.

 

In total, on January 1-20, Energocom purchased 280,000 MWh at the weighted average price of approximately 126.75 euros/MWh. It is worth noting that the electricity selling price approved by the National Energy Regulatory Agency is about 145 euros/MWh.

 

In the Transnistrian region, scheduled electricity outages of 5 hours, once a day, continue. On the left bank of the Dniester River, on January 21, the electricity consumption amounted to 4,205,000 kWh, with coverage sources being the Cuciurgan power plant, Dubăsari hydroelectric plant, and technological flow.
