Moldovan government's Crisis Cell says needed volume of electric energy covered for 19 January

19 January 2025, Chișinău - The needed volume of electric energy on the right bank of Dniester is fully covered for 19 January, the government’s Crisis Cell has reported. The activation of emergency contracts is not necessary.

The Energocom stock company reserved the commercial capacity at the border with Romania, in order to supply the need of domestic consumption with imports, both based on bilateral contracts and from exchange. Consumption by about 10 per cent less than on the day before is forecast for 19 January, as well as a similar share of green energy produced.      

The consumers are urged to save electricity in the peak hours, during 7:00-11:00 and 18:00-23:00, in order to have lower invoices and to ensure the stability of the electric energy system.   

The situation regarding the supply with electric energy in Moldova was as follows on 18 January:  

- Import of electric energy from Romania – 48.12 per cent;

-Termoelectrica stock company – 29.98 per cent;

-Renewable energy – 16.42 per cent;

-CET-Nord stock company – 4.29 per cent;

0Costesti hydro-electric power station state enterprise – 1.19 per cent

 The consumption on 18 January was by about 11 per cent lower against the day before. The peak of the consumption of electric energy was recorded between 17:00 and 20:00, reaching a maximal level of 855 MW, without exceeding the value of the consumption forecast. The production of renewable energy reached a record value of 16.42 per cent of the consumption.   

In the thermal energy sector, on the right bank, all sources of generation are working and there are no risks. Also in the natural gas sector, the pressures in all segments of transport managed by the Vestmoldtransgaz Ltd Company are within the limits of the functional parameters.  

On the left bank of Dniester, a deficit of electric energy continues to be registered and fan disconnections from power supply lasting five hours during a day, once per day, are made. The sources of energy used in the Transnistrian region are: MGRES (Kuchurgan power station) – 88.06 per cent from the volume of electric energy generated; the rest of the energy comes from the Dubasari hydro-electric power station and from the technological flow.
