World Economic Forum in Davos: Moldovan PM has meetings with important international companies

23 January 2025, Davos - The investment profile of Moldova, the current developments in the economy and the way the government enhances the country’s investment attractiveness today were unveiled by Prime Minister Dorin Recean in discussions with representatives of more top international businesses. The companies work in the fields of renewable energy, IT, agro-business, financial services, consultancy and logistic infrastructure.
During his dialogue with representatives of the world leader of technologies for wind parks, Danish company Vestas, PM Dorin Recean referred to the situation in Moldova’s energy sector and stressed that the renewable energy covered an ever big share of the residents’ consumption. The prime minister invited the company to develop wind energy projects in Moldova, as the government continuously improves the legal framework and the facilities provided to these investments.
During his meeting with Louis Dreyfus Company, which is doing business in the agricultural sector, with emphasis on the processing and sale of cereals and oil seeds, the prime minister analyzed possibilities of developing partnerships for improving the capacities of processing of agro-food products in Moldova. Also, the goal is to introduce advanced solutions of logistics and chain of supply for the Moldovan agriculture.
The subject on the development of the logistic infrastructure was tackled during a meeting with the head of the DP World group – one of the main global suppliers of smart logistic solutions, specialized in the logistics of goods, operations of port terminals, sea services and free change areas.
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, the PM also met the deputy president of for public policies and emerging markets of the TikTok platform, Helena Lersch. The interlocutors touched upon the external influence in the carrying out of elections and the concerns about the hybrid ways of voters’ manipulation. The company showed willingness to cooperate with the public authorities and non-governmental organizations in the context of the next ballot.
The ascension of the IT sector in Moldova in the last years was highlighted in a discussion with the leadership of the Palo Alto Networks enterprise. The sides analyzed the possibility of opening, in Chisinau, of an office of experts in the cyber security, improving the quality of the infrastructure of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT), as well as of qualifying human resources from Moldova on this segment.
Other subjects at the meetings in Davos were focused on the development of the capital market and the financial services from Moldova - a subject discussed with representatives of Goldman Sachs, as well as on the improvement of the digital ecosystem of the consultancy of Moldova, relying on the global experience of the management consultancy firm, McKinsey & Company.
