Deputy Prime Minister, Cristina Lesnic, discussed cooperation opportunities with the UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova, Dima Al-Khatib
Increased trust between residents on both banks of Nistru and projects implemented by the United Nations Development Programme in this regard were discussed within a video conference by the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Cristina Lesnic, and the UNDP Resident Representative in Moldova, Dima Al-Khatib.
The sides reviewed projects implemented by UNDP and other UN agencies in the Republic of Moldova, including in the Transnistrian region, as well as the opportunity to create synergies between projects funded by the development partners and the Country Reintegration Action Program, funded from the state budget. At the same time, Cristina Lesnic expressed the will to have a close collaboration with the civil society concerned by the Transnistrian process.
Another tackled topic was human rights in the Transnistrian region and the possible assistance to promote respect for rights of victims of domestic violence, detainees and other vulnerable groups, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Cristina Lesnic, underlined Government's concern for the safety and health of the Moldovan citizens on both banks of Nistru. She thanked UNDP and development partners for support offered in increasing trust between people and enhance dialogue with the Transnistrian side.
The sides agreed to continue discussions at the technical level in order to advance the common agenda.
