The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Cristina Lesnic, had a working meeting today with the Head of the OSCE Mission to the Republic of Moldova, Claus Neukirch.

The sides discussed latest developments in the negotiations for the Transnistrian settlement process and the pressing issues faced by inhabitants of Nistru’s both banks. They also exchanged views on the recent visit of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Special Representative, Thomas Mayr-Harting, to the Republic of Moldova.

The Deputy Prime Minister Lesnic expressed concern over the situation in the Security Zone, following the installation and maintenance of illegal checkpoints by Tiraspol representatives. She reiterated Chisinau's constant position on their unconditional and immediate removal, as well as unconditional respect for human rights throughout the country, including the right to free movement. The situation of the localities in Dubasari district is special and was addressed accordingly.

The issues related to companies from the right bank of Nistru, which have employees residing in the Transnistrian region and who can not commute to work due to restrictions maintained by Transnistrian structures, issues related to functionality of the vehicle registration points in Tiraspol and Ribnița, and other relevant problems were also discussed.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister Lesnic, avoiding any unilateral action is the only sustainable and viable option that meets the objectives of all parties involved in the negotiation process.

The request for the OSCE Mission’s assistance to monitor, document, investigate and report without delay the incidents occurring in the Security Zone was reiterated.

The two officials agreed to continue observing the situation in the Security Zone, but also to fully contribute to maintaining a state of normality and to ensure unhindered traffic between both banks of the Nistru river.
