Deputy Prime Minister, Cristina Lesnic, discussed evolutions in the Transnistrian settlement with the French Ambassador, Pascal Le Deunff
The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Cristina Lesnic, had a meeting today with His Excellency, Pascal Le Deunff, the French Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova. The discussion focused on a wide range of issues related to implementation of the Berlin Plus Package, the dialogue between Chisinau and Tiraspol, the execution of the ECHR decision in the Catan case, and human rights.
Cristina Lesnic communicated about the current state of the negotiations and the situation in the COVID-19 pandemic context.
A special topic of the discussion was telecommunications, as part of the Berlin Plus Package. Officials exchanged views on future prospects for the telephone interconnection of citizens from both banks of Nistru. Ms. Lesnic reiterated Chisinau’s position that was presented during the last 1+1 meeting, according to which all mobile operators must comply with the Moldovan legislation provisions.
The chief negotiator from Chisinau, Cristina Lesnic, also highlighted the human rights evolutions during the pandemic and the individual cases that require special attention.
Ms. Lesnic reported on the activity of the Bureau during this period and on the fact that it will cooperate with the national authorities to formulate proposals related to ensuring security of the electoral process and the citizens in the presidential elections.
Officials also discussed prospects of holding a 5+2 meeting, the role of the confidence building measures between both banks of Nistru, and the country reintegration process.
