The sectoral Working Group on Transportation met online today

The sectoral Working Group for the development of road transportation and infrastructure met online today, with the support of the OSCE Mission to Moldova. Topics related to facilitating transport traffic were discussed during the meeting.

It was agreed to resume the activity of the Vehicle Registration Points based in Tiraspol and Rybnita starting 1 October, 2020, meanwhile comply with the sanitary-epidemiological norms. Therewith, a joint assessment visit, to be carried out next week to document the work of the two Points, was discussed.

At Chisinau’s initiative, Tiraspol expressed its readiness to expand the registration mechanism with neutral numbers for the trailers from the Transnistrian region, in accordance with Law No.170 of 2018 on the registration of means of transport and amendment of some legislative acts.

Furthermore, Chisinau reiterated the need to cancel the so-called illegal and discriminatory vignette taxes for cars with registration numbers of the Republic of Moldova that enter the Transnistrian region.
