Meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of the Republic of Moldova Valeriu Chiveri with the Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Juozas Olekas

On 8 July 2026, as part of his working visit to Vilnius, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri held a meeting with the Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Juozas Olekas. The meeting was also attended by the Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs Remigijus Motuzas.

The Deputy Prime Minister informed his interlocutor about the efforts undertaken by the Republic of Moldova to promote a peaceful and sustainable settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, taking into account the current regional security situation. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the continued support provided to our country in the process of European integration and stressed the importance of keeping this topic on the agenda of the Vilnius authorities in connection with Lithuania’s upcoming Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which will begin on 1 January 2027.

For his part, the Speaker of the Seimas Juozas Olekas welcomed the achievements of the Republic of Moldova on its path towards European integration, expressing readiness to continue providing full support for this course. The Lithuanian Speaker also highly appreciated the actions aimed at implementing policies for the gradual reintegration of the country, reaffirming firm support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.
