Meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration with the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian Settlement Process
On 15 May 2026, the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, Valeriu Chiveri, held a meeting with Thomas Lenk, the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Transnistrian settlement process. Representatives of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office from Switzerland also took part in the meeting.
The discussions focused on the current situation in the settlement process, the dynamics of the dialogue between Chișinău and Tiraspol, and the priorities of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova. The advantages of policies aimed at the territorial reintegration of the country were also highlighted.
The need to address concrete problems faced by the inhabitants of both banks of the Nistru River was emphasized, particularly those in difficult situations, ensuring the protection of fundamental human rights and freedoms, thereby contributing substantially to the implementation of the strategic objective of the reintegration of the Republic of Moldova.
The principled position of Chișinău regarding the final settlement of the Transnistrian conflict through peaceful and political means was reiterated, with respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country within its internationally recognized borders.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Valeriu Chiveri, appreciated the role of the OSCE in facilitating dialogue and reiterated Chișinău’s openness to engaging in actions aimed at the gradual elimination of artificial barriers between both banks of the Nistru River.
