Working visit of Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri to Romanian-language educational institutions in Tiraspol and Bender

During the visit of 26 February 2026 by Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri to the Transnistrian region, he also visited the “Lucian Blaga” Theoretical Lyceum in Tiraspol and the “Alexandru cel Bun” Theoretical Lyceum in the municipality of Bender. During the meetings, the Deputy Prime Minister met with the administrations of the educational institutions and with the teaching staff.

The discussions focused on the main challenges faced by Romanian-language educational institutions in the region, on identifying solutions to overcome the existing difficulties, and on the support measures that could be provided by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova.

One of the most pressing issues is the lack of premises ensuring adequate conditions for the educational process. The situation is particularly acute, given that in the respective localities there are buildings that could be adapted for these institutions, especially in light of the steady increase in the number of pupils.

In addition, school administrations and teachers emphasized the need to ensure continuity between levels of education at all stages, including the deepening and diversification of educational opportunities.

A particularly serious concern remains the illegal and forced conscription into unconstitutional military structures, a practice that creates significant obstacles for pupils and directly affects their educational and personal development.

The Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed the commitment of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova to continue supporting the right to education in Romanian and the uninterrupted functioning of educational institutions in the region, despite the existing challenges.
