Meeting of Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri with Co-Rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe

On 16 June 2026, Deputy Prime Minister for reintegration Valeriu Chiveri held a working meeting with the co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

The Deputy Prime Minister informed them about the priorities and main approaches of the authorities of the Republic of Moldova in promoting reintegration policies, the current processes in the Transnistrian region, as well as the measures undertaken by the Government to address the urgent problems faced by inhabitants on both banks of the Nistru River.

Particular attention was paid to the alarming human rights situation in the eastern districts of the country and to the artificial barriers to free movement within the perimeter of the Security Zone, with emphasis on the efforts of the Moldovan authorities aimed at addressing existing difficulties and ensuring respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms.

The principled position of Chișinău was reaffirmed regarding the promotion of a peaceful and final settlement of the Transnistrian conflict within the internationally recognized borders of the country, in compliance with its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
